How to Install and Maintain Shower Floor Tiles

First: Substrate prep. Before waterproofing, ensure the subfloor is clean, level, and structurally sound. This is crucial for a successful install.

Next: Waterproofing. This is essential. Create a waterproof barrier before laying any tile. Apply a waterproof membrane (following the manufacturer's instructions) to the entire shower floor, extending up the walls a few inches. This "shower pan" directs water to the drain. Also, ensure your drain is properly installed and compatible with your waterproofing system.
